A sequel to Shining Force II, Shining Wisdom, was released in 1995. Shining Force II is followed by Shining Force CD and Shining Force Gaiden: Final Conflict. It is often regarded as one of the best video games ever made, with it being frequently featured on "top 100" lists. Shining Force II received strong reviews from critics, with many citing it as superior or equivalent to its predecessor. The game also includes several new ways of promoting the cast of playable characters. Unlike Shining Force, the game is much longer, and contains more "free-roaming." There is no chapter system, so the player can return to previously visited parts of the world. Its storyline is not directly connected to the original Shining Force, although a Game Gear title Shining Force Gaiden: Final Conflict links the two games' plots. "Shining Force II: The Ancient Seal") is a tactical role-playing game for the Mega Drive/Genesis console developed by Sonic! Software Planning in 1993. Also, promotion items can only be used once, so (for example) you can’t promote both Jaha and Randolf to Baron class. Note that characters who have already been promoted cannot be promoted again, eg if Chester has already been promoted to Paladin, he cannot then be promoted to Pegasus Knight using the Pegasus Wing (and no, even if he’s a level 20 Paladin, it won’t work). When you go to the priest and request a promotion, he’ll ask whether you’d like to use the item in the promotion. The item must be in the inventory of one of your characters, it doesn’t matter which – as long as the item is not in the caravan’s depot.
Certain characters can have an item used in their promotion, to promote them to a special fighting class. When your characters reach level 20, they can be promoted.
